The grant provides free early years education for 15 hours per week for 38 weeks of the year. There are no additional charges for this core free entitlement. As a requirement for obtaining the grant, both settings are inspected by the Office of Standards in Education (OFSTED) approximately every 4 years. Over the years the Field House setting which has been operating since 1996, has worked closely with the Local Education Authority (LEA) in Oxford to achieve a balance between Montessori teaching practice and the Early Learning Goals as defined by the Department for Education and Employment (DfEE). We will be pleased to provide you with a copy of the most recent OFSTED report (October 2010) for Field House Montessori Nursery, in which the quality of the provision was rated as being "good" in all 17 assessment areas, while for Summertown Montessori Nursery, the quality of the provision was judged to be "good" in 16 of the 17 assessment areas (December 2009), the exception being due to the newness of the setting.
